Freddie Hubbard, a Grammy-winning trumpet player whose powerful, dramatic solos were a strong influence on a younger generation of jazz musicians, died Dec. 29 at Sherman Oaks Hospital in Sherman Oaks, Calif., of complications from a heart attack. He was 70. I grew up geeking out on his music....he played with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. Peep this amazing footage. So fly. This was 1962.
Paul Krassner was the founder, editor and a frequent contributor to the freethought magazine The Realist, first published in 1958. Krassner became a key figure in the counterculture of the 1960s.
I love my iPod touch. I beleive in the app store. That said, some of the apps created in 2008, should stay in 2008. We will look back at this phenom, and ask ourselves why we got suckered into this shit. These "magical" apps that exist on the iphone turn you into the biggest "tool". High end digital "Spencer's gifts"...erase them no, and I will act like it never happened.
