Banksy is the artworlds Batman---

He's a genius.  So simple. So smart.  He did this  "pop-up" street art installation--- which poses as a innocent pet store on 89 7th Avenue between West 4th and Bleeker Street in the West Village of New York City.  It is a populist's version of Damien Hirst's exhibition at the Seagrams Building(Lever House) last year.  Banks is pushing it to another level!  The concept speaks for itself.  And the tension of who he is, and how he pulled this off really represents what is in the air for street art....and where it can and will go.

From Banksy:

“New Yorkers don’t care about art, they care about pets. So I’m exhibiting them instead. I wanted to make art that questioned our relationship with animals and the ethics and sustainability of factory farming, but it ended up as chicken nuggets singing. I took all the money I made exploiting an animal in my last show and used it to fund a new show about the exploitation of animals. If its art and you can see it from the street, I guess it could still be considered street art."

How it all makes sense now...

"Each generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it" - George Orwell, -quoted in the Associated Press

Now there's something to simmer on after the ups and downs of the last two weeks and the upcoming election.  I remember having to read Orwell's "Animal Farm" in eight grade.  I admit I only read the Cliff's notes at the time.

Holy Diabetic Coma Batman!

Whoa. Long work day, ends in a gluttony and dessert laden dinner in Milan, Italy.  Felt like "berrypalooza".   3 glasses of Limoncello.

Limoncello [limon'tʃɛlːo]  (according to our friends in wikiville)

Miles Davis- Recognize!!!!!!!!

Miles Davis.  Interviews of Miles are rare.  His performances defined cool. This is "Agitation"-- a lesser known record, performed probably in the mid 1960's with Ron Carter, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and  Tony Williams . The second video is "Walkin'", performed on November 7, 1967 at the Stadthalle, Karlsruhe, Germany. This is an old one---way before my time...and for sure isn't one of my favorites.  But watching it, the way it was filmed, the vibe--   makes me want a time machine. But mostly it makes me regret never learning how to play an instrument.  He personified cool and beyond.  Even as he got older.  He was a stud. I love geeking out on old Miles records.  I own every single one...even the later ones that got a little weird.  Love those too.
