Last night I visited my good friend-- artist Brian "Kaws" Donnely. He is a real gamechanger. I have been a fan of Brians for the better part of a decade. Visit his site at http://www.kawsone.com/shop
The show was crisp-- and tight. It is at the "Gering & Lopez Gallery" on 5th Avenue in NYC. Worth a visit for sure. All the paintings are done like giant animation cells.
I was geeking out on the sculptures he did of his own head...signature cap and all. Brian how many of those black hats do you have?
These guys at the escapist have a brand defining, and entertaining way of reviwing games. High marks on editorial flair-- even when you want to disagree. Geeked out. Even a non-gamer can appreciatte the swagger. Sort of feels like the first time you saw Dennis Miller doing stand-up: you can't understand everything that is being said, as it is loaded with smarty pants innuendo-- but clearly this guy has an audience. Respect.

I woke up this morning to catch my 6am cup of Cafe Bustelo. Everyone in my house is buzzing, and it is not from the caffeine. Our guy, Our president won! My grandmother always used to say...at any significant crossroad in our lives..."This is the first day of the rest of your life." I'm hyped. I am excited by the promise of this victory. I am excited how our world image will be restored to new levels-- but mostly by the fact that there is a palpable energy---and we must seize on it to tackle all the challenges we face as a team. That is the best by-product of this day, and our new President: you get the hunch that he has the chops to really steer the boat.
I went to grab for my remote control for the kitchen TV. For some reason the signal is dead. I went into the family room as well. No signal either. At first I was angry. But as my kids came down for cereal-- it occurred to me there are more important things than TV, particularly on this day. Fuck CNN. No Fox. No Nicktoons or Noggin. Who needs ESPN? We sat here and talked about what happened. Doesn't matter that they are just 6, 4 and almost 2 years old. They volleyed back and forth with me. Ella, the little one keeps repeating..."i like OBAMA". Alex is ear-to-ear. Sage can't wait to go with me to D.C.. I hope they never forget this day. I won't.
